18 Sep 2011 - Congratulations to Ted Toop for getting a Highly Commended Editors Choice award on ephotozine for 'Climbing Away' - it is an excellent shot and amazingly sharp. Here it is at Ted's Flickr photostream:

04 Sep 2011 - Congratulations to Mick Rose on winning a Ribbon in the General category for 'Into the Mist' at today's WCPF MPIX (Members Digital Image Exhibition) at Exeter Corn Exchange. It was the personal choice of judge Brian Swinyard for its wonderful use of positive space - as well as being perfectly composed, perfectly exposed and a beautiful picture!

There were over 1000 entries for MPIX over 3 categories (General, Nature and Creative) and a quarter of these were accepted into the exhibition. All clubs receive a CD with all the accepted images so that the members can enjoy them during their meetings next season. Of the 1013 entries, 54 were given awards, ribbons or commendation certificates.

05 Aug 2011 Weymouth Camera Club members have been successful in two local competitions.

Congratulations to club members who did well at the recent Dorset Arts and Crafts Association (DACA) exhibition and photography competition. There were around 300 entries overall, from all over Dorset and the southwest. Stephen Jones won the Open section and a gold certificate for his portrait of 'The Captain'. Congratulations also to Mick Rose for taking 2nd place in the Spirit of the Sea Competition Open Category. Mick's winning entry was his beautiful photograph 'Fishermen on Chesil Beach', which I am sure everyone remembers as the winner of the 'Something Beginning With F' category in our own annual competition. The competition was judged by Echo Photographer, Finnbar Webster and Mick won tickets to two local attractions, presented by the President of the Dorset Wildlife Trust. 15 May 2011 We've just had our Annual Awards Evening and there is a new gallery of the winning and highly ranked images from the Annual Competition. The Competition Winners page has been updated with all results.

25 April 2011 The club's Summer Programme has been announced and the details are listed on the programme of events page. The programme of events page also lists the subjects and provisional dates of the competitions for next season, to give you plenty of time to get your entries ready.

01 March 2011 At the meeting on 1st March, Club Member Danny Dench was presented with a Certificate of Merit for his outstanding image Bearded Tit, entered for the Western Counties Digitally Projected Images Competition 2011. His image received a score of 14 out of a maximum 15 and was placed in the top 18 of 1020 images. Bearded Tit, Danny Dench, Highly Commended WCPF DPIC 2011

08 March 2011 The club concluded its series of monthly competitions on 08 March 2011 with an Open competition. There is a meeting report on our reports page or visit our galleries to see the results, together with the placed and highly commended images of the Open Competition.

22 February 2011 The Six of a Kind competition was held on 22 February 2011 together with our fifth monthly competition 'Close-up'. Visit our galleries to see the results, together with the placed and highly commended images of the Close Up Competition and Six of a Kind Competition.

February 2011 - Competitions and Meeting Reports Club members had an enjoyable day at the Western Counties DPIC on 13th February where the club came joint 23rd out 51. We'll upload a gallery of our images soon. Club nights have been busy with talks and competitions and new meeting reports have been added. The fourth monthly competition 'Shadows' was on 08 February 2011. Visit our galleries to view the placed and highly commended images of this competition. In the coming weeks we will be having Close-Up, Six of a Kind and an Open Competition so lots of new pictures are in the pipeline!

December 2010 - Geometric Competition - The club held its third monthly competition of the season on 07 December 2010. This was a 'Geometric Shapes' competition with entries in two categories - Prints and Digital Images. 24 October 2010 - Isle of Portland Heritage Trust Photography Competition 2010 - Ernie Minns wins 'Best in Exhibition'. September 2010 - More Club Member Photos Published - Helen and Stephen Jones have had six WOMAD festival photos published in the September Edition of Dance Today Magazine (subscription only)

June 2010 - Flickr Members Group - We've set up a Weymouth Camera Club Members Group on Flickr (a popular photography website). We hope that this new group will complement our website and is for members of the club to show their photographs for comment and constructive critique, participate in photography-related discussion and share information on local (South Dorset) photo opportunities.

June 2010 - Club Member Photos Published - Our Treasurer, John New, has three photos published in the June Edition of Railway Modeller, Great Britain's leading model railway magazine.

Annual Exhibition - We are holding our Annual Exhibition at the Mulberry Gallery, Weymouth Library, from the 4th to 9th October 2010. Why not come along and see the best prints of our 2009-2010 season on display.
